While most butterflies derive enough nutrients from the nectar of flowers alone to survive, some, especially, males, require more sodium than such nectar contains. These butterflies will seek out saltier resources, such as sweaty people. It is believed by some scientists that the extra nutrients gathered in such adventures is presented as a nuptial gift!
